THOUGHTS ON GATHER

For over 10 years I have relentlessly fantasized about creating a space of my own, which would build community, connect people to that which inspires and in turn generate expressions of creativity.

This vision was fueled by the people, connections and memories established at the Bubba Mavis, a fringe gallery on Eastlake in the mid 90's. (Brian Pike being a huge part of that energy will appropriately have the last show at Gather.)

Finally, (after 10 years) I was tired of hearing myself talk about what I wanted to do, how I was going to do it and what it would be like, so I climbed up the ladder, stood on the platform and dove into Gather.

Now on April 10th 2009, exactly one year after signing the lease for "the space" Gather will close.

I've accomplished all the tangible details I foresaw in my mind and am now standing on the edge of a new launching pad, the present.

Gather has brought me to the present and I hope to stay here, slow down, simplify and savor.

I hope Gather has brought you something unexpected.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who contributed and participated.
